Understanding the Complexity of Journalistic Practices: the Case of Xinhua
AbstractThe major theme of this research (2003-2006) is to conceptualize the change of Xinhua over the last two-and-a-half decades in the context of globalization. However, no existing English and Chinese literature on Chinese media and news agencies provides adequate knowledge of Xinhua. Instead, both fields have fallen into numerous controversies. Many scholars in the two fields have turned to the globalization controversy for a conceptual framework, which itself has been confused by various versions of the global/local polarization.
